MARS is seeking to assist the Academy of Saint Bruno in establishing an arts center in Dighton, Kansas.

Small towns across Kansas are in decline. More and more young families move away from small towns to urban centers leaving behind family farms and cities which were once the seed bed of true Americana.
MARS, seeing the need for giving young people options for development and young familes a reason to stay, has teamed up with ASB Karate and the Academy of Saint Bruno to establish an arts center in a old abandoned Lutheran church. The first work was to clean the church and prepare it for an invasion of young people. A series of workshops for young actors and actresses was held. The workshops were attended by 25 youngsters who worked on a variety of theater skills.
POD (Players of Dighton) was formed from those who attended and has been performing a readers theater under the direction of Karen Klumpp. The readers theater piece developed using a Max Lucado story for children opened on the road playing to a croud of 100 at Grace Cafe in Dighton. The evening was a huge success.
MARS will turn it's attention to maintaining the building and supporting the arts center through fund raising efforts. If you are interested in more information about how you can help, contact MARS For Peace.
Abroad
A team of three will make a trip to Nairobi, Kenya to re-establish contact with the MARS groups currently in Africa. The group will meet with Pastor Maurice Omulubi to discuss the way forward for MARS in serving the orphans of Kenya. The team will go then to Lemoru to meet with James Sawe and the tribal leaders of the Nandi Tribe living in the Zewa district of central Kenya. And finally the group will return to Kiserian, north of Nairobi to teach at a Christian Family Conference.
